Is the country safe if Mindef is run by an idiot?
Idiots in high places, No. 1
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi
The defence minister has a weird definition of treachery, of being a traitor. Apparently, if you let the public know that you think the defence ministry and the three armed services have failed in their job, then you are a traitor. If you damage the countrys image, then you are a traitor. Going by his words, image is more important than the security or defence of the country.
Mind-boggling in its crass stupidity, that surely qualifies Ahmad Zahid and his ministry as well as the heads of the three armed services, and especially the Navy, of being utter idiots.
An idiot is someone who thinks image is more important than the security or defence of the federation.
An idiot is someone who has forgotten that:
- The job of the defence ministry and of the three armed services is to defend and protect the people of Malaysia, and defend and protect all the things that belong to the people.
- Among the things that belong to the people are:
- all the land and sea territories within Malaysian borders;
- all the equipment, goods and services that the people of Malaysia have paid for so that the armed services can do the job of protecting and defending the people of Malaysia and their possessions
- This equipment includes jet fighters and their engines, submarines, tanks, patrol craft, frigates and corvettes, landing ships, tanks, armoured vehicles and guns.
- All those things are the property of the people of Malaysia. The people of Malaysia paid for them and provided them to the armed services.
- So when we, the people of Malaysia, ask the caretakers what did you do with our money, we are using our God-given right, as with any employer, to know what our paid caretakers have been up to.
So now we, the people of Malaysia, want to know:
- Did you buy shoddy equipment with our money? If so, why?
- Did you spend our money wisely? Or did some of you keep a bi! t of our money for your friends and allies?
- Have you kept in proper working order all your equipment, all of it being the property of the people of Malaysia and provided by us for the use of the armed services?
- Have you done a proper job of guarding our borders and our possessions? Or is there a huge hole in our maritime defences because of a bungled contract for long-range patrol vessels?
- Did any of you have anything to do with the violent death of a Mongolia woman who was involved in the deal to buy the two submarines?
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi seems to forget that he is paid a salary by the people of Malaysia. His job is to oversee, on our behalf, what those so-called professional military men are up to. Instead he has turned against the people of Malaysia by calling some of us traitors.
Heres a question for you, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and your minions at Mindef. Or, to put it another way: heres a question for you, Mindef, and your minion Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Are you working for us, the people of Malaysia, or are all of you working for your foreign contractors and their minions?
Because, if you are not working for the people of Malaysia, then it is you who are traitors.
What the idiot said:
Zahid: MPs comment on sub an act of treachery
Zahid said Nurul Izzahs statement, published in Indonesias Kompas newspaper on Aug 4, had undermined the countrys image. Describing the act as that of a penderhaka (traitor), Zahid said the statement had damaged the countrys image in the eyes of the world. As a member of parliament, she should have been more ethical. But the manner in which she disparages the Malaysian armed forces is disgraceful. (Bernama/NST)
