What will the DPM think of next?

'Why can't our leaders in BN admit a mistake, address it and move on? Is it so 'malu' to do so? Are all our leaders infallible?'

DAP's Pua to DPM: Your taskforce is 'ridiculous'

KSN: Tony Pua is right about the task force. Police reports have been lodged. They should be fairly and without prejudice investigate and action taken against them under the relevant laws, such as sedition.

Along with that action, internal disciplinary action should be taken. The teacher in question should be immediately suspended pending the outcome of both procedures. Why the need for a task force when these two follow-up actions are not taken and finalised?

Mark my words, after all the insults hurled at the Chinese and Indians - and this is not the first time - this 'fanatic' will be transferred to another school without any punishment as has happened in so many other similar cases.

Is transferring a new form of punishment for civil servants when the guilty and the abusers are Malays? What will Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin think about next, a royal commission? Is this to delay and avoid meting out the appropriate punishment?

Keturunan Malaysia: Setting up a task force to simply investigate, identify and confirm a clear and straightforward racist remark? At least now we can understand why we need 1.2 million people in the civil service.

Atheist: Why can't our leaders in BN (especially Umno) admit a mistake, address it and move on? Instead, DPM Muhyiddin, education director-general Alimuddin Mohd Dom, Deputy Education Minister Wee Ka Siong, et al, complicate and prolong this shameful episode by forming a task force to "investigate" what actually was uttered by school principal Siti Inshah Mansor.

Good God, she said it in front of hundreds of students, she has personally apologised for it and now we need to waste money, time and manpower and man hours to establish what is obvious? Is it so 'malu' (embarrassing) to admit to a mistake? Are all our leaders infallible? Give us suffering Malaysians a break.

Call me Jibby: Muhyiddin took almost one week to initiate a probe against the principal, while those Umno goons reacted in less than 24 hours after the 'Lim Guan Eng sermon' bluff spread like wildfire, thanks to Utusan Malaysia.

Jaguh: In the old days, people who do not conform to ruling ideologies are sent to rehabilitation schools (or camps). The ideology I am referring to is 1Malaysia, or let's move back in time and call it 'muhibbah'.

I recommend setting up such a place and the first recruit should be 'Mr I'm-Malay-first'.This place will be open to racists from all the races. They will be made to do community work and learn different languages.

Zz2XX: "The question is, why is he, who is also the deputy prime minister, so reluctant to condemn such remarks and warn others? asks Tony Pua.”

Well, you can't expect him to tell off his own kind, can you? These racist principals are just following their supreme example, Umno.

SJMC: Siti Inshah must be connected to someone very influential in the civil service or a political party, hence the VIP treatment. I doubt an ordinary civil servant would have the pleasure of being taken care of by a task force.

Malaysia Sakit: There is absolutely no need to blow up the issue. If the headmistress is guilty of uttering the alleged remarks, she should be given a stern warning not to repeat it. It should also serve as a warning to others in the teaching profession to respect other races. Let's move on.

Non-BN: If only a non-bumiputera principal had made such racist remarks against Malay students, the whole of Umno leadership would have jumped, not to mention Perkasa, and the attorney-general and inspector-general of police would spring into action immediately.

Voice: To Siti Inshah and whoever utters racist remarks, if you can't accept a multiracial society, Malaysia is not the country for you.

When the pride of Malay nationalism decays

Swipenter: In those early days, the gist and meaning of 'Malay nationalism' was different from today's meaning of 'Malay nationalism'. Present-day Utusan Malaysia and Perkasa best exemplify the meaning of today's Malay nationalism.

Contrast that with the vision of the founders of Utusan where they visualised one day that Malays can stand on their own two feet and be counted as equals amongst all other Malaysians.

Umno is responsible for the present-day dilemmas of the Malays. Utusan can play a decisive role in forging national unity, but instead they choose the opposite because of racial politics, which is the forte of their political master and owner.

Jerusalem Cross: Utusan Malaysia deserves thanks from Pakatan Rakyat for driving thousands of voters away from BN-Umno. Syabas Utusan, keep it up.

Ashamed: It's a shame. The very apparatus that was supposed to bring its readers to another level to lead and be proud of the country is doing otherwise. It incites hatred, racialism, protectionism, everything which its readers should not be. It now not only divides its Malay readership but also all Malaysians.

Patriot: Utusan appeals and feeds fodder to those who are race-based to further infuriate and foment a feeling of resentment and hatred towards anybody not conforming to their line of thought.

'Lies, when told often, become the truth' appears to be their motto. However, many good and peace-loving Malaysians of all races know what the real truth is. Sadly, in Malaysia, newspapers have become mouthpieces of the powers-that-be for their own survival. Let's hope that good sense will prevail.

Malaysians Are Not Stupid: It's okay when Utusan prints things that are racist and inflammatory. It's okay for Perkasa to say things that are racist and hurt the feelings of others. It's okay for Umno leaders to say and do things that are out of bounds. But it's not okay for the rest of us. That's Malaysia today, 53 years after independence.

Moontime: I haven't read Utusan since 1998, ever since they published the item about so-called "prostitutes" demonstrating outside the Parliament building during the height of reformasi.

Utusan knew all along that Umno will never take action against them. I am willing to eat my shoes if ever that happens! Is it any wonder that their readership has fallen to a level unprecedented in the last 60 years? This newspaper will never regain their credibility by harping on the past and playing with fire.

Why don't the editors realise that thanks to the Internet, they can no longer lie as facts can be checked easily with a click of the mouse? If they continue instigating the Malays, then I fear that one day, divine retribution will fall upon them - 'ketulahan' as they say here in Sabah.
