Govt to change policies to be fair to all, says Najib
He said the changes in policy, to be in line with the 1 Malaysia concept, were to build an ecosystem that will enable Malaysians to achieve maximum potential based on their abilities, and contribute towards achieving the vision of making the country a great and developed nation in the future.
He said the government wanted the future of the country to be based on good relations amongst people of various races and religions.
“Hence, the change in the policies. Moreover, the government wants the people to feel that it belongs to all of them.
“We want to make sure that our policies are fair to every Malaysian,” Najib said when launching Sekolah Menengah Chong Hwa’s solar-powered road lamps here today.
Also present at the event were Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
The prime minister called on Malaysians to join him in the transformational journey towards a better and brighter future as a big family under the 1 Malaysia banner.
“This is not an ordinary journey. This is a journey to scale the highest peak of achievement of our beloved nation, Malaysia,” he said, to the applause of more than 2,000 people at the event.
He praised the school for its usage of solar-powered lamps as it educated students on the importance of green technology to reduce carbon emissions in the country.
Prior to the function, Najib was given a warm welcome by more than 1,000 people during a 20-minute walkabout in Jalan Station.
During the walkabout, he met taxi owners and traders at the Kluang Bus and Taxi Terminal. — Bernama
