Gullible or plain stupid ?

Why are Malaysians so gullible ? Or is it plain stupidity ? They so easily believe everything they hear or read. They never check the authenticity of the news. They never bother to think whether the news made sense. Just a sniff of sensation, and they all jump into the bandwagon.

In the past 2 weeks alone, three stories have been making headlines.

The USD 23 billion golden yacht allegedly owned by a Malaysian. It was obviously a prank and so many Malaysians fell for it. The Facebook, Twitter, emails, etc were abuzz with this news and everybody speculating who the owner might be. Just a waste of time. and to the morons to keep sending me this news, BODOH.

Air Asia moving to Jakarta. Tony Fernandes had already made a statement more than a month ago that only the office that coordinates its regional business was moving to Jakarta. The corporate HQ will remain in KL. Yet, last week, emails were flying everywhere and many blogs carried the story that the entire AirAsia operations was moving to Jakarta and how it was a slap in the face for Najib. This also included prominent opposition politicians who twittered and blogged that Air Asia has lost confidence in Malaysia. Tony Fernandes has clarified again that his HQ will remain in Malaysia. Hello everyone please check your facts properly before blurting out. Again waste of so much time and energy. BANGANG.

Rosmahs RM 24 million ring. I am actually bewildered at the kind of things that people believe in. Not only are people just convinced of stories like this. They are very very convinced, almost religiously. They go around spreading the news despite having no clue as to the origin of the news. As long as it is sensational, it is worth believing and spreading around. BAHLUL.

This brings me to the Monyet News Network. Most of ! you know that it is satire. Some dont realize it is satire. They truly believe what MNN says. Despite qualifying the MNN news by your most reliable source of unreliable news, despite calling it the MONYET news network, there are many who actually completely believe that MNN tells the truth. What am I supposed to do ? As an interim measure, all future MNN news reports will carry this new banner. I hope this will help to convey the message that you are not supposed to completely believe the MNN news. BODOH, BANGANG ATAU BAHLUL.
