Tax hike for lousy Malaysians

Putrajaya, 30 August. In the latest move meant to reassure the rakyat concerned about the slow pace of economic recovery, the Minister of Economy & Finance today proposed a 24% tax hike this week for the lousiest, most annoying 1% of Malaysians. "In difficult times like this, I believe it is only fair that our country's biggest jerks should bear the largest share of the tax burden", Datuk Seri Khalid Baba said. The increase will reportedly affect those who tell lies, cut traffic queues, double-park, talk on their phones in cinemas, let their pets litter the streets as well as those who leave their rubbish in front of their neighbours houses. An additional 3% will also be imposed on taxi drivers who refuse to accept passengers and restaurants owners who pour their left-overs curries into the drain at night. MNN has learnt that people who write on Facebook about their laundry or washing their hair will also be subject to the tax hike.

"Hopefully, this tax hike will serve as a wake-up call to people who behave in ways that are totally idiotic and help change peoples behaviour for the better" added Khalid.

The increase has already received criticism from various parties. Opposition MPs argued that it is a pre-election ploy and will only serve to isolate jerks and morons of the country. SOBKL claimed that the proposed tax hike will burden its alumni. In a statement faxed to MNNs office, Kuthubudeen Maidin Ali, the President of the Indian Muslim Restaurant Operators Association, i! n critis izing the tax hike said that if we cant pour our left-over curries into the drains, where the f%$# are we supposed to pour them then ?.

At press time, it was still not clear how the Ministry will identify the 1% of lousy Malaysians. It is believed that the public may be enlisted to help the Ministry to identify such lousy Malaysians. A spokesperson from the Ministry also informed MNN that depending on the success of this tax disincentive, it may be extended to Malaysians who pick their noses or scratch their crotches in public. Caning is being considered for people who hop parties.
