Himpunan Hijau aims to oust BN in 'Pahang Green Belt'
Environmental group Himpunan Hijau has decided to throw its weight behind Pakatan Rakyat in the coming general election, vowing to see BN off in six parliamentary seats it is calling the 'Pahang Green Belt'.
These seats accords for 5.4 percent of the 112 seats needed to enable the opposition coalition to assume the federal government.
Meanwhile, in announcing the Himpunan Hijau's foray into the political arena, its president Wong Tack said the group was doing this to ensure a government that respects its people.
"At this time, we need to take strict measures to ensure all the rakyat unite to form a government that will listen to the voice of its people.
"We want to see the country's administration respect human rights, the rakyat's voice, the ecology and also the system," he said during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this morning.
