Govt’s new magic shield, by Zunar
Peaceful Assembly Bill passed
Four hours of debate, only six MPs taking part. Barisan Nasional puts out strict party whip. Pakatan MPs walk out in protest when only three of its MPs allowed to take part in debate. Opposition leader says government bulldozed Bill and avoids calls for parliamentary select committee to examine details.
The Bill now goes to the Senate for debate and approval, after which it will be sent to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for royal assent. If royal assent is not received by 30 days the Bill becomes law.
