Police say no to Pakatan mega-rally in Seremban

Police will not give a permit for Pakatan Rakyat to hold a mega rally dubbed 'People's Uprising Assembly' this Saturday in Seremban.

According to Berita Harian, Seremban OCPD Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said three Pakatan representatives had come to the Seremban police district headquarters on Oct 24 to apply for the rally but they did not complete the application form.

"The period given (to complete the form) expired and they failed to complete the form. Therefore I have to make the decision not to issue a permit for that rally," he told a press conference yesterday.

The political rally was initially scheduled to be held at Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur before it was relocated to Taman Seremban Jaya in Seremban, a state which Pakatan aims to conquer in the next general election.

Expecting to attract some 5,000 supporters, the rally, which will be held from 4pm until midnight, will highlight the eight electoral reform demands raised by Bersih 2.0, among other public issues including the protests against Lynas and the petroleum hub in Pengarang, Johor, as well as the oil royalty demand of the Kelantan state government.
