Lynas and Anwar the environmentalist

.
Hi Brader Anwar, it was interesting to see you at Kuantan, joining the protest against Lynas. After all, in the past 30 years of your political career, you have never said a word about environmental protection. Not a word. Zilt. You said nothing when our forests were being cut down. You said nothing when our rivers were polluted. You said nothing when landslides killed our people. You said nothing when the leatherback turtle became extinct in this country. You said nothing our wetlands were drained. You said nothing when the haze hit our nation, year after year. Suddenly you have become green?
Therefore it was kind of surreal to hear you talk about our soil and air being contaminated. 30 years is a long time to have kept quiet about our earth, our water, our wildlife and our forests. You must forgive me if I sound cynical or if I ROFLMAO at your antics.
Brader Anwar, if you are really, genuinely concerned our land, the nature, its flora and fauna and the well-being our Malaysians, please do something about the 5 things I have listed below. Lynas is such a small matter – the risks are very very low. People in Gebeng are many times more likely to die from road accidents than from Lynas. I know you would like to become the PM one day and I got no problems with that. But for one who aspires to be PM, I hope you get good science advisors – because whoever is advising you about the risk and science behind Lynas is obviously a nut. [You should know that it is actually riskier to live in Kuantan or KL compared to living in Gebeng. Of course, your advisors will never tell you or the public about this].
Brader Anwar, since you are now a greenie, please do something about these 5 issues. They are many many times more serious that the Lynas chicken shit.

The rape of Lojing Highlands, Kelantan. In my career of 25 years in environmental planning and management in Malaysia, the rape of Lojing Highlands in Kelantan is probably the worst environmental disaster in the country. The worst of disaster took place during the past 20 years – all under the watch of PAS and Nik Aziz. Tens of thousands of acres of mountainous forests were destroyed, the landscape remains scarred till today. Untold misery fell upon the Orang Asli communities living there. The pristine and beautiful Sg. Nenggiri has been turned into a cesspool. Wildlife wiped out and all the timber ravished by cronies of the state government. The problems continue until today. If Kelantan remains poor today, you must ask Nik Aziz what happened to all the timber that came out of Lojing? I normally would not bother you with things like mountains and rivers but since you are a greenie now, I am asking you to do something.

The plight of Orang Aslis. You found it necessary to protest against Lynas where the risk to the surrounding population is low. Yet the Orang Aslis in this country are subject to so many risks in the daily life and you have done nothing. I am sure you already know that the life expectancy of the Orang Asli is 15 years lower than other Malaysians. Orang Aslis are dying 15 years earlier than other Malaysians. The incidence of malaria is the highest among the Orang Asli. When they are employed by logging companies or plantations, they are exposed to so many hazards and many of them die due to occupational accidents. The people in the Government (both BN and Pakatan) simply don't care. Are the lifes of the Orang Asli less valuable? I normally would not bother you with things like Orang Aslis but since you have become a greenie now and say that you are very concerned about the safety of Malaysians, I am asking you to do something.

Rhinos and tigers. Do you know that in your lifetime, the magnificent leatherback turtle has become EXTINCT in Malaysia. Over the past 7 years, not a single leatherback turtle has landed in Malaysia. In the 1970's, the magnificent creatures landed in their thousands on our beaches. Both BN and PAS governments in Terengganu refused to ban the sale of turtle eggs despite knowing the crisis. The rhinoceros is now in the verge of extinction. There are probably less than 50 animals in Peninsular Malaysia and less than 50 in Sabah – for all intent and purpose these are technical extinct. There are less than 500 tigers in Malaysia. At the current rate, the tiger (which adorns our coat of arms) will also go extinct shortly. Are you going to do something now that you have discovered your inner environmentalist? I normally would not bother you with things like animals but since you are a greenie now, I am asking you to do something.

The KL Outer Ring Road. The KLORR will cut through the Selangor State Park and traverse into the Klang Gates Dam area. Civil society and residents in the area are all fighting hard to save their forests. You haven't said anything – maybe you don't know or perhaps you simply want to hide from the fact that the Pakatan government in Selangor has endorsed the proposed road and its alignment. If you are really concerned about the environment as you claimed in Kuantan, do something about this. After all, it is within the control of your allies in Selangor. I normally would not bother you with things like roads and forests but since you are a greenie now, I am asking you to do something.

Haze. Almost every year without fail the haze hits us. The damage is really very high. Many people suffer from it, the cost to human health is high and children and the elderly are particularly prone to it. It saddens me to see asthmatic children suffer (and some die) during the haze episode. The problem, of course, lies in Indonesia. But since you are a greenie now and you have high level contacts in Indonesia, why don't you use your influence to get the Indonesians to do something about it. Why is it that I have never heard you rebuke the Indonesian government about this. The haze actually KILLS people every year. Why don't you organize a protest in front of the Indonesian embassy this weekend? I know the haze is not here now but there is no use protesting when the haze arrives. Protest in advance lah. I normally would not bother you with things like smoke but since you are a greenie now, I am asking you to do something.

Brader Anwar, should I welcome you with open arms into the Order of the Greenies. Or should I simply call you a hypocrite?

Monyet King also says
The 17 known rare earth elements are yttrium, scandium, lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, promethium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium, and lutetium.

Over the past week, I have discovered 2 more. moronium and sodomium. (of course Sharizat discovered condominium but that's a story for another day)
