Overhead flyover near Cyberjaya collapses



An overhead flyover near Selangor Science Park, Cyberjaya, heading towards Aman Putra has collapsed this afternoon.
According to Bernama, the bridge is under the purview of Selangor Development Corporation (PKNS).

Several photographs showing the collapsed overhead flyover passing over a road under construction have been widely circulated on social media, both Facebook and Twitter.

NONEAccording to postings on Twitter, nobody was injured as the overhead flyover has been closed to road users.
The Cyberjaya police station confirmed the collapse, but an official said the area is under the purview of the Putra Perdana police station, which could not be reached.

A police officer at Sepang district police headquarters told Malaysiakini that they have no information at the moment.

"Our officers are there already but we have not obtained any information," he said.
It is learnt that bridge, which is located on the Elite highway near Selangor Science Park 2, collapsed at about 2.45pm and it was closed to traffic a month ago.
According to China Press, the bridge was previously opened, but it was closed for repairs after cracks on the road surface were discovered.

The newspaper quoted sources saying that the bridge was built near the river banks where the soil is loose. The authorities had upgraded its foundation few months ago.
