Lessons in Hope From Underprivileged

Had been busy spending time with underprivileged and displaced aka refugee children from countries of ASEAN including Middle East and South Asia.

These children are trying to find a home sadly not in BolehLand because they are considered 'refugees'. UNHCR and other hearted wonderful great people and NGOs are giving dignity and hope to these children to have a life here. Sadly, they have no hope here and most hope to find a home, an adopted one in some Western countries.

So they attend classes, they get their essentials from donation of kind corporations, they spend time with volunteers and most time they have to help the family to survive. Those who attend the charity homes are a discipline lot which reminds me of the good ole missionary school days. It is interesting they all speak English well and also learn BM which I must say is commendable. Besides that they speak their own mother tongue be it Burmese, Tamil, Iranian and other minority languages. Which brings to the question are BolehLand kids really multi lingual than these kids?

These kids have adapted not only to the culture but also in terms of technology and fashion too. They are like kids everywhere, fascinated by the latest gizmo, are k-pop and Gangnam fans and follow the latest trends too, albeit in moderation given their low economic status and need to be low profile.

Like kids anywhere, they have hopes for a better future. And they are not allowed to find it here. Which is odd, because if we are to believe what we hear and read on BolehLand's blogsphere, many illegal migrant workers are becoming naturalised!

These kids are studying hard to make a better lives for themselves. Given their situations they cannot afford to be lazy or depend on handouts or even expect to be given rights and privileges based on colour, religion and language. Their education system even teaches them to respect and honour their temporary abode. For those local underprivileged kids they have found close friendship with these child! ren.  H ow does one feel listening to the kids singing the national anthem and also the 1Malaysia song? Moving as the kids think nothing about politicising everything in life. Unlike our politicians who are now using our young kids and the education system is sadly becoming politicised and turning out ala little heir mon fuehrer 1Leader hah!

God's power vs huddle power
They recently had a sports event among 19 Homes taking care of these children and it was a fantastic day of fun and a chance to meet their other country friends so to speak. There was nothing pretentious in their sporting attire most of which are sponsored by kind companies. And they showed the competitive spirit and will to win.

If only our sometimes pampered younger Bolehland generation can see how children who are 'stateless' are finding it hard and working hard to make a life for themselves survive, it might make our kids lots more humble and not thing we are modern or advanced than others.

Hope those of us who complain and politicise every damn thing in BolehLand can open our eyes and become more human than think we are better, holier or smarter than other human beings.

Power play from power star kids!

Priceless Red Devil Gift!
Even with such a challenging environment and life some dreams do come true. The best players in the games got to take back an autographed backpack from MU players such as Rooyne, Valancie, Scholes, de Gea ....10 backpacks. Thanks to the Devils, our 10 little angels truly were in seven heaven with their prized possessions.

It was interesting even if the kids wore sports attire of other British Premier League clubs, when the surprised prize reward was announced of Red Devil's backpack to the 10 promising players, the whole close to 600 kids were excited and their excitement showed that three quarters of them were little Red Devils fans!

God does look upon the humble, simple and innocent children.
YAHMEH!!!
